On Tuesday night's episode the top ten female contestants took the stage to battle it out for a spot in the finals
The competition is heating up on Fox's "American Idol." On Tuesday night's episode the top ten female contestants took the stage to battle it out for a spot in the finals.
One of the night's most memorable performances came from Angie Miller. Angie wowed the judges with her rendition of former "Idol" contestant Colton Dixon's "Never Gone." Her piano-accompanied performance had Nicki Minaj wishing she could stop the competition and declare Angie the winner. Meanwhile, Randy Jackson told America that "a star was born" onstage.
Following Angie was Amber Holcombe, who took on Whitney Houston's "I Believe In You and Me." The 18-year old stunned the crowd with her powerful rendition of Houston's hit song.
Aubrey Cleland took on Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" and won the judges' hearts. Judge Keith Urban said the song allowed her to showcase her personality, while Mariah thought the song proved she could be a multi-platinum selling artist.
Then small-town girl Janelle Arthur took the stage to sing "If I Can Dream" by Elvis Presley. Her old-school voice awed the judges, who had nothing but praise for her.
Check out the top ten men face off in a live episode of "American Idol" tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Fox. Then on Thursday night's show, host Ryan Seacrest will announce the top ten men and women heading into the finals.
