Now that Katie Holmes' Broadway play has closed, she has more free time on her hands...and she's been spending it in a very unusual setting.
Holmes was a "surprise spectator" in a Queens, New York, courtroom on Wednesday. The 34-year-old actress showed up with an unknown companion to listen to the opening statements in a high-profile alleged shaken baby death case. Suri's mom was wearing a conservative outfit and had on no makeup (despite being the new face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics).
So why was Holmes there? Is she really that bored? Well, it turns out that the lead prosecutor in the case against Hang Bin Li, a Chinese immigrant accused of violently shaking his 2-month-old daughter Annie to death in 2007, is one of the star's pals, Leigh Bishop. “She was there supporting her friend who is the prosecuting DA," Holmes' rep commented.
