Judge Returns Children to Shanesha Taylor

Judge Returns Children to Shanesha Taylor

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A judge ruled Thursday that a woman who left her kids in the car during an interview can have custody of them again.

In court Wednesday, Shanesha Taylor and her attorney told the judge she's already five weeks into her required classes.

"I am human, and we are all allowed to make mistakes from time to time, but it is how you recover from those mistakes is what makes us better people," said Taylor.

Taylor was arrested back in March after leaving her kids in a car during a job interview in Scottsdale.

Her tearful mugshot resonated with single moms around the world and an online fundraising campaign brought in more than $110,000.

As part of the deal with prosecutors, Taylor had to set up child care and education trusts funds for her children to be allowed supervised visits. The kids had been in state custody ever since her arrest.

"I just reinforce that I love them and that sometimes I don't make the best decisions, but at all times I have their best interest at heart," she said.

Taylor and her attorney hoped that her continued cooperation with prosecutors would be an important factor as she tried to get back custody of her kids.

When interviewed on Wednesday, Taylor said,"I have been doing everything requested of me, anything additional I can do I will do, whatever is necessary to bring them home."
