Seven years ago, I left my career in pharmaceutical sales to stay home with my 3 children. Now that my youngest has started school, I decided to not only re-enter the work force, but to change careers to Dental Hygiene which I believe will better accommodate my family at this time. Rio Salado College has been a good fit for me in two stages of my educational pursuit. First, Rio Salado’s on-line courses offered me the flexibility to complete the Dental Hygiene program pre-requisite classes from home and at my own pace. Second, Rio Salado is the only local college that offers an accelerated Dental Hygiene program lasting 15 months as opposed to the typical 2 year Associate’s program. This has allowed me to obtain my Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene within an accelerated time frame and I am scheduled to graduate in May of this year. Having this additional degree will open all kinds of opportunities for me. Initially, I can work in the clinical setting as a hygienist. Ultimately, I hope to combine my sales and clinical experience to pursue advanced opportunities.
