Joe is currently going into his freshman year at ASU which he has to pay for by himself. He was a graduate of Brophy College Preparatory and while he was there and throughout his college life he will work around 30 hours a week at Dairy Queen. He was always working or doing school related activities, he basically had no time off throughout his high school career.. Although he had such a huge workload he still managed to volunteer over one thousand hours at a suicide hotline where he would take calls from suicidal teens on almost a daily basis. He has been incredibly involved in this organization even though he had so many other commitments, from taking calls almost daily to community outreach where he would go and try to teach people about the realities of suicide and that they always had someone to call. I have had the incredible experience of watching him work at this hotline for the past year and a half and it amazes me how selfless he is to others even when he has to do so much for himself at a young age. He has never asked for anything for his incredible service to the community, even though he deserves so much for the several lives he has literally saved. Next year he will be paying over 18,000 dollars to go to college. He will be working almost full time while being a full time student but even that won't be enough. He will have to take out thousands in loans but he won't complain about any of it. Furthermore, he will still be volunteering at the hotline every week because it is that important to him. He is one of the most dedicated and selfless people I have ever had the blessing to be around. If the world was more like he was, we would have no one hurting and more people who just kept pushing and pushing even though there are so many obstacles in front of them. He is the most deserving person I have ever encountered to receive something like this. He is someone who is volunteering hundreds of his hours each month to keep this community alive. I believe that this five hundred dollars would help him out more than anyone can know and it would be a great start to paying for his college. It would be great to be able to recognize him for all he does for anyone else and I sincerely hope that you choose him. I cannot say enough how deserving I believe he is for all he does for others and I hope you agree with me. Thank you.
